Dressed to kill...Or dressed to make
people just want to stop living? Therein, between these two extremes,
lies the art of self-fashioning.
Though the concept of a fashion faux pass is fairly unisex in nature,
women have upon themselves the added psychological pressure of looking
impeccable at all times. And therefore, the higher propensity to err
lies with the fairer sex.
So ladies...try and avoid these very general and classic mistakes that
we all tend to commit at least once in our lifetime. But falling victim
to these vices is literally unpardonable and hence here is a concise
guide to help us all:
Size Unwise: Now, this is the one grouch that almost
every guy confesses to have harboured. Do not wear clothes that don’t
fit you properly. The right size complements one’s figure and
accentuates only those assets that are worthy of accentuation!
Undergarments? Under No More: Some things are best left
hidden. Prey, do not try to mess with the traditional mores of dressing
just this once. Hanging straps and peeking knickers look tacky. And
also, let’s just remember that a little mystery is all it takes to feed
a very active male imagination.
Colour Blind: All colours are not black. That is to say,
a blood red or a parrot green will not look good on each and everyone.
General opinion has it that black is the only colour that suits almost
everybody. Choosing the right colour goes a long way in enhancing one’s
overall look and appeal. So, here’s giving full credit to a male
friend’s candid opinion, “Mayawati and pink together? Not really!”
Socks ‘N’ Sandals: The two are like chalk and cheese -
just not meant to be seen in each other’s company. And, if the chills
get to you a lot more easily than others, make the effort to wear
close-toed shoes with socks to keep the cold at bay.
High on Heels: Heels are meant to lend women stature,
grace, elegance and oomph. They are certainly not meant to make one
appear wobbly and discomfited, a la a cat perching on a hot tin roof!
Wear heels that you can handle. Be it flats, stilettos or wedges – just
make sure you can walk sturdy on them.
Cringing and squirming won’t solve matters. In case any of you find
yourselves in violation of the above, take charge to set things right.
A slight touch of care and just a hint of attention to your choices,
and voila...
