Euro won't really revive Swiss economy: Study
Wed-Jun 11, 2008
Zurich / Associated Press
The European Championship will have only an indirect effect on the Swiss economy, according to a study released on Wednesday.
Credit Suisse bank said the tourism, advertising and logistics sectors will see a positive impact from the three-week tournament Switzerland is co-hosting with neighboring Austria.
But overall there will be no major lift to the Swiss economy as a result of Euro 2008, the bank said.
The most Switzerland can hope for is an image boost that lays the ground for longer-term economic growth, Credit Suisse said.
