'Bombay Rains, Bombay Girls' is a real life drama: Bose

Launching his first novel, debutant author Anirban Bose said that his book Bombay Rains, Bombay Girls draws inspiration from real life.
"The protagonist of the novel also belongs to a small town just like me who came to Mumbai to study medicine," Bose said at the launch event here.
A doctor by profession and assistant professor of medicine at the University of Rochester, Bose's story revolves around a small town boy who comes to the metropolis to pursue studies in medicine.
The novel describes the challenges he faces in the new city and the complex emotional vortex that follows to change his life completely with a backdrop of the drama that takes place in the medical field, making it very palatable for the audience.
Communication consultant Peter Griffin launched the book and read excerpts from it. "The book is not just a campus novel. It has something that readers would admire without the feeling of dumbly down. It was an interesting read for me though I read it very fast."

When asked why he chose to name his novel as Bombay Rains, Bombay Girls, Bose said, "It is because if anyone comes to this city, he just has to look out for the rains and girls who are so pretty." Bose, who started his writing career in 2000, plans to bring in a little more originality in his next fiction.
"My next novel will be more of fiction. It will be a set of short stories which will be straightforward. I will be a little more original in it and write about other people," he said.
