Taking a serious note of the recent spurt in clashes between rival Naga rebels in Nagaland, the Union Home Ministry on Saturday held a high-level meeting to review the situation in the state.

The meeting, chaired by Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, discussed various measures to ensure how ceasefire ground rules could be properly implemented in close coordination with various agencies.

A Home Ministry spokesman said that the meeting was attended by Nagaland Chief Secretary and senior officers from the army and security agencies.

The Centre has already decided to set up a designated camp for NSCN (Khaplang) cadres in Dimapur to curb their movement.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting of the Ceasefire Monitoring Board, headed by Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry M L Kumawat, held in Dimapur recently.

The camp will be set up at a place called Kheohi where all NSCN-K militants residing in Dimapur area will be put up and the rebel leaders have assured they will ensure that all cadres go to the camp with arms and ammunition.

The decision came in the backdrop of recent clashes involving the three NSCN factions Isac-Muivah, Khaplang and Unification in the past three months in which at least 40 people were killed.

The NSCN-K, which is on ceasefire with the government, already has seven camp across Nagaland.

Dimapur is considered to be a stronghold of NSCN-IM and the group was unhappy over the decision to set up the NSCN-K camp and refused to meet the Home Ministry delegation during its Nagaland visit.
