Amidst security concerns surrounding Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the International Cricket Council on Thursday said it would brief all the participating nations on the matter on Sunday and as of now there was no threat to Pakistan's right to host the elite event.
"The ICC today confirmed representatives of all teams participating in the ICC Champions Trophy 2008 in Pakistan have been invited to Dubai to receive a security briefing on Sunday 20 July," an ICC press release said.
"Prior to the meeting the ICC will not indulge in speculation and, at this stage, the tournament will proceed in Pakistan, as scheduled," the release added.
The release further said that, "The timing of the briefing was agreed upon during the ICC's annual conference week, in early July, to allow the ICC's security consultants to provide a comprehensive report of arrangements at the Asia Cup. This was not possible previously as that tournament was still ongoing."
Representatives of the ICC's Broadcast Partner ESPN STAR Sports and the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) have also been invited to attend.
Many players from Australia, England and South Africa have expressed concerns to visit Pakistan after continuance violence in the sub-continent nation.
