Deputy leader of the BJP in the Lok Sabha and member of the special committee made to investigate the cash-for-vote scam in the trust vote, V K Malhotra alleged on Sunday that the VCDs of the sting operation were being tampered with under government pressure.

"The CDs are being tampered with. The CDs, which are not being shown due to government pressure, are being tampered with to take out some portions from them," Malhotra said in his speech at the flag-off ceremony of the "Bhandaphod (Unmask)" agitation launched by the saffron party against the government.

Malhotra is a member of the special committee formed by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to investigate the cash-for-vote scam.

The seven-member committee is headed by V Kishore, Chandra S Deo of the Congress and has MPs from various political parties. It has to submit its report by August 11, when the monsoon session of the parliament begins.

Meanwhile, BJP leader L K Advani has written a letter to the Speaker demanding that the CDs be made public. Malhotra said his party had expected that the CDs would be telecast when the special session of the parliament was on.

"We expected that the TV channel will telecast the CDs at 2:30 pm (on July 22) but they did not," he said. The BJP leader alleged that 50 MPs from his party were contacted for bribes to support the UPA government.
