Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, sporting beard these days, hit the Beijing Shooting Range to ensure there was no gremlins in his gun as the Indian shooting contingent had its unofficial practice session ahead of the Olympic Games in Beijing on Wednesday.

Rathore hit the range and the Athens Games silver medallist, sporting beard, looked in good touch.

"I have worked hard for this event," was all he said before leaving for the Village, promising to talk to the media on Thursday.

Among others, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Mansher Singh, Anjali Bhagwat, Avneet Kaur, Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra too attended the session.

Chief coach Sunny Thomas said though the Beijing fog is likely to affect visibility, it would be same for all and the Indian shooters could not complaint.

"It's going to affect visibility indeed but it would remain for same. So no point making excuses. All the shooters had ample practice and the morale is high in the camp," he said.

"All nine shooters have earned their quota places, no wild card and I think that should make them proud of their achievement. I think they just need to repeat their best performance and that would take care of the rest," Thomas said.

He was not ready to read too much into Rathore's recent none-too-impressive scores and said he was peaking at the right time.

"You don't exert in practice sessions. You just need to ensure that you retain the touch. Rathore has worked so hard on his technique and experimented a lot with other things. I think he is in good nick," he said.

"Here also, our shooters are taking it easy and not overdoing things. We had rigorous 12-hour practice sessions in Germany and then we slowed down the process in Malaysia before coming here," Thomas added.

"You have to take practice as practice and there is just no need to put pressure on yourself. I want all of the shooetrs to be in the best possible shape both physically and mentally and that they already are," he said.

Chief coach Sunny Thomas said though rifle shooter Sanjeev Rajput was running fever, he too attended the session for some last minute finetuning.

"Sanjeev had fever in Malaysia and though he took medicines here, he's not completely okay yet. But there is nothing to worry and he should be in perfect shape before his event begins," Thomas said.
