An army jawan was killed and two others injured in a fierce gunbattle in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

Acting on a tip off, an army patrol party launched a search operation in Sherwara-Kheri area in Banihal tehsil but was fired at by militants.

The troops retaliated and in the ensuing gunbattle, a jawan identified as Sepoy Surya Bha of 23 Rastriya Rifles was killed and two other jawans injured.
