Govt will not tolerate MNS' 'gundagiri': Deshmukh

In the wake of attacks on north Indian candidates appearing in the railway recruitment exam in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Sunday said his government will not tolerate the 'gundagiri' of MNS.
"I have directed police commissioners in Mumbai and Thane to deal sternly with those taking law into their hands," Deshmukh said, adding his government will not "tolerate MNS' 'gundagiri'."
Activists of Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Sunday attacked 13 railway board examination centres in suburban Mumbai protesting "inadequate representation" to locals.
Speaking at a flag-off function of direct train service between his hometown Latur and Mumbai, Deshmukh said his government would have provided "full security" at the examination centres had the Railway Board given prior intimation about the tests.
"We would have provided full security if the Board had told us earlier about the exams," Deshmukh said.
About 10 MNS activists have been arrested from central suburban Dombivali and Kalyan so far for disrupting the exam and preventing candidates from appearing in the test, police said.

This sort of brave talk that is not backed up with any action does nobody any good. Raj Thackeray and his hooligans have been running riot for some time now, and the State government either does not have the will or is unable to do anything to stop him. Leaders like the present ones in Maharashtra are driven purely by self-interest and do not care that the secular fabric of Indian society is being destroyed by these thugs.
