Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday filed her nomination papers from New Delhi assembly constituency and expressed confidence that Congress will come back to power for a third term.

Dikshit, accompanied by DPCC chief Jaiprakash Aggarwal, her son Sandeep Dikshit MP and daughter Latika, submitted her nomination papers before the Additional District Magistrate Bansh Raj at Jamnagar House in the capital.

Union Minister Ajay Maken, a known Dikshit detractor and the Lok Sabha member from New Delhi, was not present when the Chief Minister filed her documents for fighting the Delhi elections for a third time.

A large number of workers gathered at the ADM office in Shahjahan Road and shouted slogans in favour of Dikshit and Congress.

"I am confident of victory. My campaign has picked up," she told reporters after filing the nominations. Her main opponent BJP's Vijay Jolly will file his nomination papers on Tuesday.

Finance Minister A K Walia and Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan also filed their nomination papers for Laxmi Nagar and Krishna Nagar constituencies on Monday.

A total of 193 candidates had filed their nominations till Saturday after the filing of nominations started on November 4.

Tuesday is the last date for filing of nominations.

Both Walia and Harsh Vardhan filed their nomination papers at Deputy Commissioner (East).

Walia, who was accompanied by a large number of party workers, said "all the good works done by Congress in last 10 years and the development measures implemented by him during three-time tenure as MLA will help him to win."

Former cricketer and BJP MP Navjot S Sidhu accompanied the BJP state president during filing of nomination.

There was a stampede-like situation when Sidhu and Harsh Vardhan reached the office to submit the papers. Police had a tough time handling the situation.
