Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, recovering from a cardiac by-pass surgery, is expected to make a brief appearance in the current session of Parliament, the last for the 14th Lok Sabha.

"All of us are missing him (Manmohan Singh) because he is recovering...I do hope that before the end of the Session, at least, he will come for a short while", Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Lok Sabha.

He said this while winding up a discussion on the interim budget, prompting Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to say, "we share your hope."

76-year old Singh, who underwent the surgery last month, has so far stayed away from the session and the refrain in the government and Congress circles is that he is making steady progress and it was for the doctors to decide when he could attend the session.

With the session being the last for the Lok Sabha and concluding by February 26, the Prime Minister is stated to be keen to attend the session at least on the final day.

Tomorrow is the meeting of the general body of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) which is also the last for the current Lok Sabha.
