A dormitory for railway workers has collapsed in eastern China, killing nine people and leaving four others missing. At least 21 people were injured.
China's official Xinhua News Agency says the nine workers died in hospital after the collapse Wednesday in Danyang city of Jiangsu province. It says 21 people are being treated for injuries.
The report says rescuers are continuing to search for the missing and police are investigating the cause of the collapse. Xinhua says the workers were laboring on a line between Shanghai and
Nanjing, 170 miles (270 kilometers) to the northwest. Phones in the news departments of the Shanghai and Nanjing railway bureaus rang unanswered, and a receptionist in the Jiangsu bureau said no one was available to answer questions.
