Yogender Pandey, an executive engineer with public works department died under mysterious circumstances inside the Sitamarhi collectorate in Bihar. His family alleges Pandey was murdered. The police say it is a case of suicide and even produced a suicide note.

“My father had a bad handwriting and the suicide note given by the police has not been written by him,” Mohini, daughter of Pandey said.

The post-mortem report hinted foul play but the local police overlooked the matter. A second post mortem was done in Patna by a panel of four forensic experts. The report a copy of which is with News X stated Pandey's head suffered severe injuries.

“It is a clear case of murder and apart from the contractor even the local SP is to be blamed for the whole incident,” Pandey’s brother Sanjay Kumar said.

NewsX has learnt that Pandey had cancelled the project of a local contractor Kishore Singh and had even got his company blacklisted for tardy progress and poor quality of work.

On 6th of June, Kishore Singh along with a few thugs threatened Pandey and beat him up.

The engineer subsequently wrote to the local police and top officials for his personal safety but it was overlooked.

On 18th at around 10.34 am (IST) his body was found inside the premises of Sitamarhi collecterorate.

Now, several engineer associations want the matter to be handed over to the CBI.

“We demand that the guilty should be brought to book we have given the government three days time and if by that time action is not taken we will go on indefinite strike and also step up agitation,” Byte Rajeshwar Mishra, Gen Secretary, Bihar Engineer Services Association said NewsX.

Meanwhile the accused named in the FIR including Kishore Singh are still at large. The government has assured that action will be taken.

“There is no need for a CBI probe into the matter as the local police is competent and we are looking into all the aspects of the case and can assure that soon we will be able to crack the case,” Bihar Deputy CM, Sushil Modi said.

The state government will have to answer the series of sensational murder that rocked the state in the last one month. If the confidence of the people has to be restored it has to be done through a prompt action and speedy trial in such cases.
