"Nearly one lakh advocates owing allegiance to various bar associations have joined the strike," convenor of the coordination committee of the three lawyers' associations of the Patna High Court--lawyers association, advocates association and bar association-- Yogesh Chandra Verma said.

The strike was total at the Patna High Court and almost all civil courts across Bihar.

The lawyers were protesting the killing of advocates Jitendra Shahi in Bettiah, Baijnath Prasad Singh in Aurangabad and additional public prosecutor Dev Narayan Mishra in Araria.

No arrests have been made till now in any of the cases.

"The legal fraternity is greatly disturbed by the spate of killings. We cannot remain mute spectators to this. The coordination committee has appealed to various bar associations across the state to join the stir and they have responded positively," Verma said.
