The Enforcement Directorate will question former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Thursday in Ranchi in connection with the alleged multi-crore hawala and illegal investments case.

A team of ED officials will reach the Jharkhand capital on Thursday to question Koda at 1530 hours along with two of his associates Sanjay Chowdhary and Binod Sinha, who have also been asked to report.

Koda, according to sources, would be questioned and confronted with documents seized during the nationwide Income Tax searches on him and his associates, which began on October 31.

The ED will also grill Koda on the statements of his business partner Vikash Sinha, arrested by the Directorate and presently in judicial custody.

"The statements of few others who have been questioned by IT department and ED would also be put forth during questioning," sources said.

Koda had earlier termed all the charges against him as a "political conspiracy".

The former chief minister said on November 14, "I am very much aware that some political higher-ups are working against me. I shall expose them at an appropriate time".

The ED had issued subsequent summons to Koda to appear before it since he got himself admitted at a Ranchi hospital on November 3.

Koda expressed his inability to present himself before ED on November 15 in Delhi citing the reason of forthcoming polls in the state.

Koda (38) faces charges of having amassed over Rs 2,000 crores through hawala and illegal investments. ED sources said the former CM's aide Vikash has admitted to large financial irregularities done by him and his brother Binod allegedly at the behest of Koda.
