A special vigilance court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and his cabinet colleague Kamlesh Singh till January 19 in a disproportionate assets case.

The court of Binoy Kant Khan had on November 30 sent Koda to judicial custody after his arrest by vigilance sleuths in Chaibasa in the case. Singh was also arrested the same day and sent to judicial custody the next day in a separate DA case.

The extension of the judicial remand would enable interrogation by not only the Vigilance Bureau, but also the Enforcement Directorate in the multi-crore money laundering case.

A special ED team is reportedly here to question Koda, who is now in hospital for treatment of abdominal problem.

Koda, admitted to the hospital on December 28, has been in and out of hospital since the ED slapped the case against him and seven others on October nine.

The court also extended till January 18 the judicial custody of former ministers Anosh Ekka and Harinaryanan Rai. Ekka and Rai, who were sent to judicial custody in October last year after surrendering in court, were facing separate DA cases.

The two have won the assembly elections from Kolibera and Jarmundi respectively and are likely to take oath as MLAs on Wednesday.
