    In a surprising discovery about where higher life can thrive, scientists for the first time found a shrimp-like creature and a jellyfish frolicking beneath a massive Antarctic ice sheet.

    An iceberg about the size of Luxembourg, that struck a glacier off Antarctica and dislodged another massive block of ice, could lower the levels of oxygen in the world's oceans, Australian and French scientists said on Friday.

    This year's ozone hole over Antarctica was the fifth biggest on record, reaching a maximum area of 10.5 million square miles in September, NASA says. That's considered "moderately large," NASA atmospheric scientist Paul Newman said in a statement.
