The Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh has sacked 145 public prosecutors saying their performance was unsatisfactory.

After UP Chief Minister Mayawati saw a conspiracy in bees invading the stage when she was holding forth at her party rally here on Monday, an FIR has been lodged by police to probe who lit the fire that disturbed the beehive and what was the intention.

Facing opposition's flak for wearing a huge currency garland at a BSP rally, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday accused her political rivals of conspiring to turn the event into a damp squib and announced a phased agitation from March 27 to expose them.

In a brazen act of defiance, Mayawati on Wednesday ignored the opposition outcry over her being adorned with 1000-rupee notes and was again garlanded with currency notes to the tune of Rs 18 lakh.

In a show of defiance ignoring all criticism, BSP chief and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today got herself garlanded with currency notes said to be of the value of Rs 18 lakh.
