New York's main futures contract, light sweet crude for January delivery, rose 59 cents to $44.19 a barrel after dropping 91 cents to $43.60 at the close of trading Tuesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

"I would like not less than 500,00-600,000 barrels a day" from non-members, Badri told reporters on Tuesday ahead of a meeting on Wednesday of OPEC ministers, where a reduction in crude oil output of two million barrels a day is expected.

Light, sweet crude for January delivery was up 92 cents to $47.20 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Singapore.
