Cracking the whip, the Election Commission has disqualified 3,275 candidates across the country for three years for their failure to submit the accounts of their poll expenses.

National Conference chief Omar Abdullah will take oath as the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir along with five ministers before January 6, it was announced on Thursday night.

Omar Abdullah, all set to be the new chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday cited dialogue and not war as the only option for India and Pakistan and urged the two countries not to let "bitterness" creep into their ties which directly affect the people of the state.

Suspense over the new government in Jammu and Kashmir ended on Tuesday with the National Conference and the Congress confirming their alliance to rule the state, with Omar Abdullah as the next chief minister.
