Delhi Traffic Police ASI Injured By Chinese Manjha: Details And Impact

An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Traffic Police suffered an injury from kite string Chinese manjha while en route to his duty on Thursday morning.

ASI Surendra was struck by manjha at around 7:30 AM on Thursday as he was traveling from the Yamuna Vihar area to his posting in the Punjabi Bagh Circle. The manjha became entangled around Surendra’s neck near Yamuna Vihar, causing the injury.

Following the incident, Surendra was rushed to a nearby hospital in Bhajanpura for immediate treatment. Fortunately, the injuries were minor, and after receiving medical attention, he was sent home. No formal police complaint was filed regarding the incident.

Earlier, on August 9, four people were arrested, and a total of 12,143 rolls of “illicit” Chinese manjha were recovered during multiple operations in different parts of Delhi, according to a statement released on Friday. The operations were conducted by the teams from the Central Range and Cyber Cell of the Crime Branch.

In the first operation, a trap was set in the Rohini area based on inputs, leading to raids on a shop and a godown in Sector 7, where 11,820 rolls of Chinese manjha were recovered. A shopkeeper was arrested following the police case registration.

Another suspect, Adnan, was apprehended during the investigation after 23 rolls were recovered from his possession.

In the second operation, Mohd Akib, a resident of Bhajanpura, New Delhi, was arrested after a raid where 240 rolls were found in his possession. He was arrested after a case was registered.

Similarly, Asjad, a resident of Azad Market, Delhi, was detained following a raid where 60 rolls were recovered from him. He was also arrested after a case was filed.
