Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, “Amaran” narrates the untold stories and missions of this brave soldier, celebrating his dedication and sacrifice for the nation.

Joining the Army

Major Mukund Varadharajan joined the Indian Army as a commissioned officer, driven by a deep sense of patriotism and an unwavering desire to serve his country. His dedication and strong work ethic quickly earned him respect among peers and superiors, establishing him as a promising leader early in his career.

Service with the Rashtriya Rifles

Assigned to the 44th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, Major Mukund operated in Jammu and Kashmir, a region known for its high-risk counter-insurgency missions. Leadership and Tactical Skill

Major Mukund’s leadership was characterized by quick decision-making and sharp tactical skills. In tense situations, he remained calm and made strategic choices that ensured mission success and the safety of his team. His ability to lead from the front and stay composed under fire earned him admiration within his unit and set a high standard for others.

Contributions to Counter-Terrorism

He was instrumental in neutralizing militant threats, often putting his life on the line to protect civilians and fellow soldiers. His consistent bravery and commitment to the nation made him a respected figure within the armed forces, significantly contributing to regional stability.

Last Mission

In April 2014, Major Mukund led his final operation in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite sustaining critical injuries, he continued to lead his men until the mission’s completion. His remarkable courage in the face of danger led to his ultimate sacrifice, earning him the Shaurya Chakra posthumously.

Mentorship and Inspiration

Beyond his soldiering duties, Major Mukund was a mentor to many younger officers. He emphasized the importance of discipline, courage, and a sense of duty, inspiring those who served alongside him.
