Donald Trump Inauguration Live Updates: Donald Trump is set to make his return to the Capitol Building on January 20, when he takes the oath of office for his second term as President of the United States. Trump will succeed Joe Biden.

The 78-year-old Republican defeated Kamala Harris in the November election, following Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

Donald Trump Inauguration Ceremony

Trump’s inauguration will be a highly anticipated event, drawing a large crowd to Washington D.C. Local and federal officials estimate that approximately 200,000 people, including Trump supporters and protesters, will gather to witness the ceremony. JD Vance will also be sworn in as vice president during the event.

Several U.S. senators and House members, as well as guests from the incoming administration, are expected to attend. The four-day inauguration schedule will commence with fireworks on January 18, followed by three VIP events at Trump’s golf course just outside the city.

Donald Trump Inauguration: Key Attendees

Following Trump, Vance, and their families, the most prominent guests will include President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, along with their spouses, Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff. Despite the political tensions, Biden and Harris will attend the event in a formal capacity.

While former presidents and first ladies are traditionally invited, former First Lady Michelle Obama has opted out of this year’s inauguration, according to her office.

Global representation

The inauguration will also see global representation. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to represent India, following an invitation from the Trump-Vance inaugural committee. Other influential figures and global leaders have confirmed their attendance, adding further weight to the event.

Ahead of the inauguration, outgoing President Joe Biden delivered his farewell address to the nation on Wednesday night. In his speech, Biden expressed concerns over the “dangerous concentration of power” among the wealthy and reiterated his stance on eliminating “dark money” from politics
