Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, stated on Sunday that the state government has encouraged oppressed populations to pursue work and education, referring to these two things as “requirements of the 21st century.”
Bommai added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished for the intellectual, social, and economic revolution after the Department of Scheduled Tribes Welfare hosted a celebration in Vidhana Soudha to celebrate Maharshi Sri Valmiki Jayanti and deliver the Sri Maharshi Valmiki award. Every order sent out by Vidhana Soudha, according to him, is in line with social justice and equality, which will aid in uplifting the local communities.
“Offering everyone a chance is central to the Ramarajya philosophy. All, including the Valmiki, Buddha, Basava, and the Constitution, have endorsed equality. Only taking action will ensure success, and willpower is the key to success. Not only must the SC/ST groups have justice, but also equitable opportunities within the system “added he.
According to Bommai, the seers of different mutts work to improve the lives of underprivileged groups.
He outlined the government’s initiatives for the welfare of members of the SC/ST populations.
The government, according to him, was “building 101 Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hostels and five mega hostels; giving Rs 28,000 crore for SC/ST welfare programmes; Rs 6,000 crore for SC/ST departments; Rs 20 lakh for these two community members to buy land; Rs 2 lakh for building the house; freeing up 75 units of power for each SC/ST family; and giving Rs 10 lakh grant to 100 youths in each Assembly constituency to start their own businesses in the name of Dr. Babu

According to Bommai, he was motivated to raise reservations for SC/ST communities by his love and care for their respective communities. Buddha, Basava, Ambedkar, and Valmiki were all sources of inspiration.

Notably, the Karnataka Cabinet unanimously decided on Saturday to increase the state’s reserved percentages for the Scheduled Castes from 15% to 17% and the Scheduled Tribes from 3% to 7%. The state government would publish a gazette notification in this regard.
The decision has been made to establish a separate Corporation for the SC/ST nomad communities, according to Chief Minister Bommai. “The state government will take necessary action to review Justice Sadashiva Commission report on providing internal reservation for deprived communities in SC/ST,” he added.
