The three suspects in the murder of Ankita Bhandari are the subject of a narcoanalysis test that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttarakhand Police is evaluating, according to the state police.
With the court’s approval, the SIT looking into the Ankita murder case has the authority to administer a narcotics test to any of the three suspects, including the primary suspect Pulkit Arya, according to V Murugesan, additional director general of police (ADGP), law and order and chief spokesperson for Police Headquarters. On September 24 of this year, the dead corpse of 19-year-old Ankita, a receptionist at a resort managed by Pulkit Arya, the expelled BJP politician Vinod Arya’s son, was found in Rishikesh’s Chilla canal.
Before her body was discovered, she had been reported missing for at least six days.
Following an incident, Pulkit Arya was detained in connection with the case for allegedly shoving the woman into a canal. Ankit Gupta and Saurabh Bhaskar, two other suspects, were also taken into custody.
The Nainital High Court requested all evidence pertaining to the murder of Ankita Bhandari on November 4. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) was given until November 11 by the court to submit all of the evidence. Senior Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra presided over a single bench that heard the related petition.
An investigation into the murder case was requested in the petition submitted by Ankita’s parents, Virender Singh Bhandari and Sona Devi.
For his apparent participation in the matter, the son of the ousted BJP politician was detained. Following criticism from the opposition parties over the event, Vinod Arya was swiftly dismissed from the BJP administration under Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister.
The Gangster Act was utilised against the three defendants in the case, including the primary defendant Pulkit Arya, amid requests from the victim’s family that the investigation is handed over to the CBI.
The post-mortem report submitted by the panel of physicians matched the pieces of evidence gathered by the investigation team, according to DIG P Renuka Devi, who provided more details on the case’s investigation progress.
