Following the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute, a Maharashtra-Telangana border conflict may erupt, with 14 villages in the western state’s Chandrapur district expressing interest in joining the latter, citing ongoing neglect and lack of development by the former.
Although all 14 villages in the distant Jivati tehsil of the Chandrapur district are physically located in Maharashtra, their reliance on Telangana is greater.
Due to the government’s carelessness and lack of development programmes, these 14 hamlets have trailed behind in development. The communities must battle for basic amenities such as roads and water, and as a result, the locals detest the Maharashtra government.
Previously, Andhra Pradesh, and now Telangana (after split), have begun to pay special attention to these 14 hamlets. Meanwhile, Telangana government is constructing Gram Panchayat buildings, schools, water tanks, and other essential infrastructure.
