The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted a strong layer of fog from Punjab and Northwest Rajasthan to East Uttar Pradesh to Haryana on Wednesday.
In a tweet, IMD stated “INSAT 3D RAPID Satellite imagery indicates a continuance of a dense fog cover spanning Haryana from Punjab and Northwest Rajasthan to East UP. The grey ringed cloud patch over central areas of West UP is Medium & High clouds connected with a westerly trough at the intermediate tropospheric level, and the fog layer sits underneath it.”
“Visibility (metre) recorded at 05:30 hours IST today: Amritsar-25, Bhatinda-0, Ganganagar-25, Ambala-50, Bareilly-25, Bahraich-50, Varanasi-50,” IMD stated.
Several trains were reported to be operating several hours late on Wednesday owing to poor visibility caused by fog.
According to CPRO Northern Railway, the Mau-Anand Vihar Express is 2:30 hours late; the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express is 4 hours late; the Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express is 4 hours late; and the Malda town-Delhi Jn Farakka Express is 2:30 hours late.
