Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the loss of life in a traffic accident in Gujarat’s Navsari on Saturday and promised a Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia payment to the victim’s family.
The injured will receive Rs 50,000, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). In a tweet, the PMO stated, “We are saddened by the loss of life in Navsari due to a traffic accident. My heart goes out to the grieving family. I hope the injured people recover quickly. Each deceased’s next of kin will get an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF. Those who were harmed will receive Rs. 50,000.”
On Saturday early morning, a bus and a car collided in Navsari, killing nine people and injuring many more.
The injured were taken to a hospital and were being treated.
“A collision occurred on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai route between a bus and an SUV. Nine individuals were killed, while numerous more were injured. The collision happened at 4 a.m ” stated VN Patel, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his sympathies to the dead families on Twitter.
