President Xi Jinping stated in his annual new year’s speech on Saturday that China is experiencing “difficult problems” as it enters “a new phase” in its COVID-19 response.
In his new year greeting to the country, Xi stated “We have now entered a new phase of COVID reaction where tremendous obstacles remain.” Xi described the Covid reaction process as “severe obstacles,” adding that China has overcome exceptional problems and challenges via remarkable efforts.
He stated “We successfully held the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2022. (CPC). An ambitious plan for constructing a modern socialist country in all respects and furthering the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts has been developed, sounding a clarion cry of the times for us to embark on a new adventure.”
Concerning the Chinese economy, China’s President stated that the country’s finance has remained the second biggest in the world and has had steady growth, according to the statement.
He also stated that the GDP for the entire year is anticipated to reach 120 trillion yuan.
