Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Sunday for its efforts to improve India’s economy, claiming that the CISF has brought Naxalites and terrorists under control. Addressing the 54th CISF Raising Day parade at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) in Hyderabad, Shah stated that the CISF will continue to protect the country’s critical ports and airports as it has for the last 53 years.
This is the first time the CISF has celebrated ‘Raising Day’ outside of the national capital of New Delhi. It used to be held at the CISF venue in Ghaziabad, on the outskirts of Delhi.
“CISF has a very important contribution in the economic progress of the country because any country can progress only when the security of its industries, security of airports and seaports is ensured. CISF has fulfilled all the objectives of the establishment of CISF in 53 years,” said the Home Minister.
“PM Modi has proposed the vision of a 5 trillion-dollar economy for which the safeguarding of ports, airports, etc is very important. CISF will safeguard them as they have been doing for the past 53 years,” he said.
He also stated that the Home Ministry will reinforce the CISF with all available technology in the future years to secure ports, airports, and other critical infrastructure.
“Home Ministry will strengthen the CISF with all technologies in the upcoming times to protect the ports, airports, etc. Many CISF personnel have lost their lives in the line of duty. Naxalities and terrorists are under control due to CISF,” said Shah.
CISF, according to Shah, served as a first responder at airports and train stations during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
Shah said that recently, CISF adopted a hybrid model, adding, “I want to ensure you that with this, CISF will be able to provide its service in the private companies as well. In the coming 20 years, with new technology and drone, private industrial areas will commission CISF personnel for safety and security purposes.”
The Home Minister stated that around 50 lakh travelers throughout the country are offered help by the CISF troops every day, adding that CISF with “its excellent conduct and commitment delivers safety and security to the nation every day”.
The Home Minister stated that the Modi government’s zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism will be maintained in the future and that separatism, terrorism, and anti-national acts in any area of the country will be dealt with harshly.
He said that violence in Kashmir is significantly decreasing, and that insurgency in Northeast and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas is also decreasing.
“People’s confidence is increasing. The number of people involved in terror activities is declining and many are laying down arms and joining the mainstream,” he said.
On the occasion of the 54th CISF Raising Day Parade, Amit Shah also inaugurated the Baffle Range ‘Arjuna’ in NISA, Hyderabad. On March 10, 1969, the CISF was established by an act of the Indian Parliament. Since then, March 10 has been designated as CISF Rising Day.
Last year, Shah visited the Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) 53rd Raising Day event at Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram. Over the past few years, all paramilitary troops have celebrated Raising Day outside of Delhi. On March 19, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will conduct its annual Raising Day in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, which was long ruled by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
