Karnataka polls: Sonia, Rahul, Kharge, Shettar in Congress’ list of 40 star campaigners

Congress heavyweights, including the party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, state chief DK Shivakumar, LoP Siddaramaiah, Shashi Tharoor former BJP leader and deputy chief minister Jagadish Shettar, among others, featured in the party's list of star campaigners for the May 10 Assembly elections.

Karnataka polls: Sonia, Rahul, Kharge, Shettar in Congress’ list of 40 star campaigners

Congress has released the list of star campaigners for the upcoming Karnataka elections. It names party president Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, state chief DK Shivakumar, LOP Siddaramaiah, Jagadish Shettar, Shashi Tharoor and others.

The party has submitted a list of its 40-star campaigners to the Election Commission. These include Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, General Secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh and Randeep Surjewala, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and many other leaders.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, State Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar, actor and former MP Raj Babbar, former cricketer and former MP Mohammad Azharuddin, Indian Youth Congress President Srinivas BV and some other leaders have also been made star campaigners. Polling for all 224 assembly seats in Karnataka will be held on May 10, and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the list of star campaigners on Tuesday. The list includes names of 40 leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, who will campaign in the state. Assembly elections are to be held in Karnataka on May 10.
