Atiq-Ashraf murder case: SIT recreates crime scene in Prayagraj; judicial panel conducts probe

The Special Investigation Team reconstructed the crime scene where gangsters Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead on April 15 while being transported to a hospital for medical examinations while the Judicial Committee, which was established by the Uttar Pradesh government, was in Prayagraj on Thursday.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) nabbed three friends of Lovelesh Tiwari earlier today in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Tiwari is the primary suspect in the spectacular murders of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed.

“The trio were caught at Banda railway station,” officials said.
The SIT team has also reached Hamirpur and Kasganj to conduct the further probe, they added.
Uttar Pradesh Police conducted raids in search of Shaista Parveen, wife of Atiq Ahmed, in Kaushambi on Wednesday.

“Raids were conducted in search of Shaista Parveen, wife of gangster Atiq Ahmed. A search operation was conducted after receiving information about some criminals hiding. The operation lasted for about 2 hours. A drone camera was also used in operation. However, the operation did not prove successful today,” Samar Bahadur, ASP, Kaushambi told ANI.

Atiq Ahmed was charged with the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal and the February 2017 murder of Umesh Pal, a crucial witness in the BSP leader’s death.

As many as three people—Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh, and Lovelesh Tiwari—were detained.
After turning themselves in freely, all three attackers were captured there. They have been held in police custody and interrogated.

On Wednesday, a CJM court in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, ordered the murderers of gangster Atiq Ahmed to four days in police detention.
