Passionate about giving them back, watching them grow: Sheykhar Ravjiani on budding artists

"I am amazed at how good these kids are at such a young age. I would love for them to grow into powerful singers and musicians who I can eventually launch through my indie record label," Sheykhar said.

Passionate about giving them back, watching them grow: Sheykhar Ravjiani on budding artists

Renowned Indian music composer, singer, and mentor, Sheykhar Ravjiani, visited the Global Indian International School’s (GIIS) Noida campus on Monday as part of the Leadership Lecture Series – an initiative that brings about meaningful interaction between industry leaders and students for overall student development. The event culminated in Sheykhar overseeing an in-house talent show and handpicking two talented singers to be part of the Global Schools Sheykhar Ravjiani School of Music.

Talking to NewsX, Sheykhar revealed the vision behind the school saying, “When I first visited GIIS I was very impressed with their approach to education and the integration of technology – which gives talented students a number of opportunities to excel beyond academics. I thought, here is a school whose philosophy is aligned with my own. Giving back to the new generation and watching them succeed is something that I am extremely passionate about. So it was not just a meeting of energies, but a meeting of minds.”

He further added, “We started our journey together towards the same destination through Global-Schools Sheykhar Ravjiani School of Music through which I am delighted to be able to share my gift and love of music with so many budding musicians and singers. It is also wonderful that the school has a presence in 11 countries! This gives me a chance to interact with talented children from all over the world. It has been a beautiful journey so far and I am very proud of each and every student and of how far they have come!”

When asked about the future plans regarding the program, he said, “I have done a number of music and singing workshops with students from various schools of GIIS across the world and each time I am amazed at how good these kids are at such a young age. They are extremely dedicated to their craft and work very hard as well. I hope to be able to continue to mentor, hone and discover this treasure of talent and give them all the guidance that they need to succeed. I would love for them to grow into powerful singers and musicians who I can eventually launch through my indie record label Garuudaa Music so that the whole world can witness their magic.”

Concluding the one-to-one interview session, Sheykhar gave an inspiring message to the aspiring singers and all the budding artists saying, “Keep it real. In a world where everyone is trying to follow trends and be like everyone else, stay authentic and be yourself. You will never go wrong.”

“There is no substitute for hard work and perseverance. Shortcuts don’t quite cut it,” Ravjiani said as part of a key learning from his career.

Sheykhar, who is part of the Vishal-Shekhar music-duo group based in Mumbai, is an acclaimed music composer in the Hindi music industry, having won several Indian and international awards for his work. He has been a part of the industry for over two decades now. He has also been a judge and mentor on several singing reality shows, guiding and nurturing young talent.
