During the closing ceremony of the ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the book ‘Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamprashastih’ by Shree Somnath Sanskrit University.
Prime Minister Modi spoke at the closing ceremony via video conference.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the programme arose from PM Modi’s vision of promoting the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat through initiatives that bring out and help rediscover the country’s age-old links between people from various parts of the country. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam was organised earlier with this in mind.

The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam advances this vision by celebrating Gujarat and Tamil Nadu’s shared culture and heritage.
Many people migrated to Tamil Nadu from the Saurashtra region centuries ago. According to the PMO statement, the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam allowed Saurashtrian Tamils to reconnect with their roots.
Over 3000 Saurashtrian Tamils arrived in Somnath on a special train during the 10-day confluence. The programme began on April 17, and the closing ceremony will now take place on April 26 at Somnath.
