Kunal Kemmu, who has demonstrated his versatility in satire and black comedy, among other comedy subgenres, and who has been praised for his performances in films, recently discussed his experience and how laughter can take people to new places through performances on the occasion of World Laughter Day.
Emphasizing the importance of laughter in films, Kunal said, “As actors, we have the power to transport people to a different world through our performances. Comedy is a genre that requires a lot of hard work and skill, and it’s not easy to make people laugh consistently. In a world that can often be stressful and overwhelming, laughter can be a much-needed escape. When I see people in the audience laughing and enjoying themselves during a comedy film, it makes all the hard work worth it.”
World Laughter Day is celebrated annually to spread awareness of the many advantages of laughing. This year, the day will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2023. In Mumbai, India, on January 11, 1998, 12,000 representatives of international laughter organisations attended the first World Laughter Day celebration. 10,000 people attended the event, which was held on January 9 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
