Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is unlikely to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday. According to ANI report citing sources, he would submit a written response to the questionnaire.
At 10 a.m. today, the NAB summoned former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with an investigation into a £190 million settlement from the UK. According to Geo News, Imran Khan’s legal team advised him not to appear in NAB in person and instead to submit a written response to the 20 questions posed in connection with the corruption case, which also involves a property tycoon.
On May 18, the NAB Rawalpindi chapter summoned Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders in the Al-Qadir Trust case, according to Geo News. In its notice, the anti-graft body requested information from Imran Khan, who has been granted bail in this case, about the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) 2019 investigation into assets worth £190 million.
According to the news report, the National Accountability Bureau has asked Imran Khan to bring details about the NCA investigation as well as all documents related to the Al-Qadir University, including land papers, trust deeds, and bank statements. It also threatened the former Pakistan Prime Minister with legal action if he did not comply with the summons.
Earlier, on May 17, the Islamabad High Court extended its order prohibiting his arrest until May 31, according to Geo News. This development occurred during the hearing of the PTI’s request for information on all cases filed against the party’s leader, who is accused of being involved in more than 100. The hearing has been postponed until May 31 by the court.
