The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi’s former minister Satyendar Jain on medical grounds today, just a day after he was admitted to an intensive care unit. Jain was taken to Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital after collapsing in a Tihar Jail bathroom due to dizziness.
Jain had to be taken to the hospital for medical attention for the second time in a week. According to jail officials, he was examined at Safdarjung Hospital on Monday for a spinal injury sustained earlier from another fall in the jail’s toilet.
Since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in May last year in connection with a money laundering case, the AAP leader has been imprisoned in Tihar.
Satyendar Jain has been accused by the investigation agency of laundering money through shell companies and purchasing land with illegal funds. The former Delhi minister has denied the allegations, claiming that they are politically motivated.
