Governor Kakar confirms Ali Mardan Khan Domki's appointment as interim Chief Minister

Pakistan: The governor of Balochistan Accepts Domki as Interim Chief Minister

Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar approved the nomination of Ali Mardan Khan Domki as the interim Chief Minister of Balochistan based on the recommendation from the Parliamentary Committee. The Express Tribune reported on Friday that the approval had been confirmed. The governor’s office issued a statement stating that the nominee had received their support.

According to The Express Tribune, the previous Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Leader of the Opposition Malik Sikandar Kakar came to an understanding when they proposed Domki as the interim Chief Minister of Balochistan on Wednesday. Jam Kamal and Domki, former chief ministers of Balochistan, paid temporary prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar a visit in Islamabad earlier on Tuesday.

Additionally, the nomination followed a meeting between Domki, Jam Kamal, the previous chief minister of Balochistan, and caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.
On the morning of August 12, Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, acting at Chief Minister Bizenjo’s suggestion, dissolved the province assembly. Until a new chief minister is appointed, Bizenjo has been carrying out his duties, according to The Express Tribune.

“As advised by Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973, I, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, Governor Balochistan hereby dissolve the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan, this 12th day of August 2023 at 5 pm,” said the notification issued by the Governor House.
Domki is the political figure Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki’s son. His father was a senator from 1975 to 1977. He is a Balochistani native from the Lahri region.

Domki, who holds the titles of Tehsil Nazim Lahri and District Nazim Sibi, earned his master’s degree in sociology from Allama Iqbal University (AIOU) in Islamabad, according to The Express Tribune.
Additionally, Dostin Domki, his brother, was a minister of state and a member of the Balochistan Assembly.
