Following the denial of permission by the Haryana government for the Brij Mandal Yatra organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Nuh, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar remarked on Sunday that individuals can instead visit nearby temples during the auspicious month of ‘Sawan’ to offer their prayers. The denial of permission for the Yatra was accompanied by the enforcement of section 144 in the district, a decision based on concerns raised by local law enforcement and intelligence agencies about potential disruptions to public order.
CM Khattar emphasized the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the area, considering recent incidents in Nuh. He communicated that, in lieu of the planned yatra (Braj Mandal Shobha Yatra), people are encouraged to go to nearby temples for prayer. While formal permission for the yatra was declined, individuals are permitted to engage in prayer activities within the proximity of these temples, honoring the ongoing Sawan month.
CM Khattar also affirmed that, in acknowledgment of people’s religious sentiments, approval will be granted for the practice of ‘Jalabhishek’ within these temples. He explained that due to past events in Nuh, the decision to restrict travel was made to uphold law and order.
In relation to this matter, the Haryana government led by Manohar Lal Khattar declared on Saturday that the Braj Mandal Shobha Yatra would not be sanctioned in Nuh, and section 144 was imposed in the district. Nuh Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata informed the media that permission for the yatra had been declined and that Section 144 had been put into effect.
As a precautionary step, internet services in the Nuh district were suspended until August 28, as stated by Haryana Police on Saturday. The official announcement indicated that this measure was taken to prevent potential disturbances. It was clarified that the suspension would be in place from 12 noon on August 26 until 11:59 pm on August 28.
Nevertheless, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad announced their intention to hold a Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra in Nuh on August 28.
