Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has reported that it killed eight individuals it labeled as “terrorists” in separate operations within Balochistan over the past 24 hours, as per ARY News on Saturday.
According to the Pakistan-based media outlet, security forces conducted a raid on a house in Basima, a town and tehsil headquarters in the Washuk district, after receiving information on Friday. During this operation, five individuals were fatally shot, while three others managed to evade capture.
The CTD reportedly discovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition during their search at the encounter site. The identities of the deceased are currently under verification.
In another operation in Quetta, the CTD spokesperson stated that they successfully rescued a child and killed three abductors who were identified as members of an outlawed organization, according to the outlet. It was reported that these terrorists had kidnapped the child for ransom and that arms and ammunition were also seized from their hideout.
Last month, the country’s security forces eliminated two gunmen who had attacked a convoy of Chinese workers in Balochistan province, located in southwestern Pakistan, as reported by the army’s media affairs wing. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement acknowledging an assault on a convoy in Balochistan but did not mention the Chinese individuals.
According to ISPR, “Militants targeted a military convoy” in the Gwadar district, employing small firearms and hand grenades during the incident.
