In a tragic incident that unfolded on a Saturday afternoon, a medium-sized aircraft, identified as the Bandeirante model, crashed in Barcelos, Brazil. This unfortunate event resulted in the loss of 14 lives, including passengers and crew, as reported by CNN Brasil.

The aircraft was carrying 12 tourists, along with the pilot and co-pilot, and sadly, there were no survivors from the crash, as confirmed by the Civil Defence. The crash occurred during the aircraft’s landing attempt in Barcelos, a city situated approximately 400 km from Manaus, the state capital, where the flight had originated. This unfortunate incident took place around 3 pm, local time, and adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall during the landing, are believed to have played a role.

The passengers on board were en route to enjoy recreational fishing, as revealed by CNN Brasil. Following the crash, an investigation was initiated by the Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), with assistance from the Seventh Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Seripa VII), a regional division of Cenipa.

The investigative process involves tasks such as data collection, preserving evidence, assessing aircraft damage, and identifying potential contributing factors to the incident. The duration of the investigation will depend on the complexity of the case.

The aircraft belonged to Manaus Taxi Aereo, a company authorized for air taxi services, as confirmed by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). Manaus Aerotáxi, the company operating the aircraft, emphasizes its commitment to passenger and crew safety and assures that all relevant civil aviation regulations regarding airworthiness were followed. They also extend their condolences to those affected by this tragic event.
