A recent altercation between Imran Khan’s lawyer, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, and PML-N Senator Afnan Ullah Khan unfolded on a Pakistani television channel, as reported by Geo News, a news outlet under the Jang Media Group.
Both leaders confirmed the incident, which was also shared by Senator Afnan on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The video footage captures a heated argument between the two, marked by the use of offensive language. Marwat eventually initiated a physical confrontation, beginning with pushing and escalating to slaps and punches. The TV show’s crew had to intervene to separate the politicians.
Senator Afnan, in a post on X, stated that Marwat attacked him and emphasized his commitment to non-violence but asserted his loyalty to “Nawaz Sharif.” He added, “The beating that I gave to Marwat is an important lesson for all PTI, especially Imran Khan. They will not be able to show their face to anyone and will be forced to wear big dark sunglasses,” as reported by Geo News.
Sher Ali Khan Marwat responded with a post, accusing the TV show host of spreading misinformation about the “unpleasant incident.” He disputed claims that his opponent was invincible, revealing that Afnan Ullah had retreated to a nearby room during the altercation, which he only discovered when watching the program later. Marwat expressed his intention to pursue a defamation case and a criminal complaint against the senator.
This incident is not the first of its kind to occur on a talk show set. In 2021, a similar altercation took place between former PPP lawmaker Abdul Qadir Mandokhel and then-PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan, who has since joined the Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The incident went viral as video footage captured a heated verbal exchange during a television show, with Mandokhel accusing Awan of corruption.
