Union Minister Narendra Tomar Slams Opposition Amid Sanjay Singh’s Arrest

In response to the arrest, the AAP has announced plans to stage a protest outside the BJP headquarters on Thursday, opposing Singh's detention.

Union Minister Narendra Tomar Slams Opposition Amid Sanjay Singh’s Arrest

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has strongly criticized the opposition in light of the recent arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the Delhi liquor policy case. Tomar emphasized that the legal process will be followed meticulously for those implicated in corrupt practices.

Addressing the media, Tomar stated, “The law will take its course against those who indulge in corruption. PM Modi said that I would neither eat nor allow anyone to eat. Dishonest people should be more careful. Corruption is involved and that is why the CBI and ED have swung into action. ED and CBI get paid to work against dishonest people.”

Sanjay Singh’s apprehension marks the second high-profile arrest in this case, following the former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.

On Wednesday morning, the federal agency conducted a raid at the residence of AAP leader Sanjay Singh, pertaining to the now-defunct liquor excise policy in the national capital. This development closely followed ED’s searches at the premises of two close associates of Sanjay Singh in the same context.

The case revolves around allegations that Singh and his associates influenced the Delhi government’s decision to grant licenses to liquor vendors in 2020, leading to financial losses for the state and violating anti-corruption statutes.

In response, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal condemned the arrest of Sanjay Singh, asserting, “The arrest of Sanjay Singh is completely illegal. This demonstrates Modi ji’s nervousness. They will apprehend many more opposition leaders before the elections.”

Leaders of the INDIA alliance also expressed sharp criticism over the AAP MP’s arrest. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha remarked, “It is not the ED that has arrested Sanjay Singh, he has been arrested by the unit of BJP that comprises ED-IT-CBI. Dark days have begun…In this era of dictatorship, jo dar gaya wo mar gaya. The dictators themselves are scared. This fear will be retaliated against soon.”

In response to the arrest, the AAP has announced plans to stage a protest outside the BJP headquarters on Thursday, opposing Singh’s detention.
