Union Minister Anurag Thakur expressed his optimism about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) performance in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, stating, “The BJP will win record seats in Madhya Pradesh.” With the assembly polls slated for later this year, both the BJP and Congress have ramped up their campaign efforts in the state.
As the election fervor intensifies, political parties strategize on various fronts. Thakur acknowledged the importance of timing in political strategy, saying, “Every party has a strategy as to how to go in which elections. Should the party go with a (CM) face, should the party go without a (CM) face, or when should it announce the (CM) face… The elections have not been announced yet. Let the dates be announced first. The BJP will win record seats in Madhya Pradesh.”
The BJP has already unveiled two lists of candidates for Madhya Pradesh, featuring prominent party figures like Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Singh Patel, and Faggan Singh Kulaste. Meanwhile, the Congress is actively campaigning with the aim of wresting power from the BJP in the state, with leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressing rallies. Additionally, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its candidates for select seats in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to conduct its assembly elections in the months of October and November 2023, with voters selecting legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies. Among the five states set for polls later this year, Madhya Pradesh currently has a BJP government in power.
