Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences and support for Israel on Saturday as the nation endured a series of rocket attacks launched by Hamas. These attacks came as a sudden and shocking surprise, causing widespread damage and casualties in southern and central Israel.
In a statement posted on social media, PM Modi conveyed his deep shock and sadness regarding the terrorist attacks in Israel. He offered thoughts and prayers for the innocent victims and their families, emphasizing India’s solidarity with Israel during this challenging time.
Naor Gilon, Israel’s Ambassador to India, acknowledged the gravity of the situation and expressed gratitude for India’s moral support. He reassured that despite the abnormal circumstances, Israel would ultimately overcome these challenges.
The latest reports from Israel indicate that at least 40 people have lost their lives in these attacks, with over 700 individuals injured.
In response to the escalating crisis, the Indian Embassy in Israel issued an advisory to all Indian nationals, urging them to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities. The advisory emphasized the importance of caution, avoiding unnecessary movement, and seeking shelter as necessary.
Hamas has also claimed responsibility for the abduction of five IDF soldiers, although the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have not yet commented on this claim.
Israel has declared a state of war following the infiltration of Hamas fighters and missile strikes from Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated Operation ‘Iron Swords’ in response to the surprise attack, targeting Hamas installations in Gaza.
As the situation unfolds, the IDF is actively engaging with Hamas terrorists in various locations along the border between Southern Israel and the Gaza Strip, including towns such as Kfar Aza, Sderot, Sufa, Nahal Oz, Magen, Be’eri, and the Re’im military base.
