US Arms Arrive in Southern Israel Amid Ongoing Conflict with Hamas

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced the arrival of the first plane carrying US armaments in southern Israel on Tuesday evening. “The first plane carrying US armaments has since arrived at the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel this evening,” stated the IDF via social media.

While the IDF confirmed the arrival of US weaponry, the specific types of arms and military equipment received were not disclosed. This delivery aligns with the Biden administration’s decision to provide munitions to Israel as it faces an escalating conflict with Hamas.

The IDF underscored the importance of military cooperation between the United States and Israel, emphasizing its role in bolstering regional security and stability during times of conflict. This collaboration is a significant aspect of addressing the challenges faced in the ongoing conflict.

Simultaneously, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu held a third telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden. Following their discussion, Netanyahu expressed his view on Hamas, stating, “I told him (Biden) that Hamas is worse than ISIS – and that they should be treated that way.” He conveyed his gratitude for the “unreserved support” offered by the United States.

President Biden reiterated the US’s unwavering stance in support of Israel and its right to self-defense. The Israeli PM highlighted the escalating violence and brutality, emphasizing the heinous acts committed by Hamas during the conflict.

As the conflict entered its fourth day, the IDF reported significant casualties on the Israeli side, with over a thousand fatalities, more than 2,800 individuals injured, and 50 confirmed as hostages or missing. Gaza has seen a relentless barrage of over 4,500 rockets launched at Israel.

Conversely, Israeli counter-offensives have led to over 770 Palestinian casualties, with the Health Ministry in Gaza reporting at least 770 Palestinians killed and 4,000 wounded, including 140 children and 120 women. These figures represent the grim human toll of the ongoing conflict.

In an address to the nation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel did not initiate the war but was forced into it. He declared, “Israel is at war. We didn’t want this war. It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way. But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.” The conflict began with a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, marked by a barrage of rockets targeting southern and central parts of Israel.
