In a heated incident on Tuesday, chaos unfolded in Nagarjuna Sagar, Nalgonda district, as clashes broke out between workers of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The altercation reportedly resulted in an attack on Nalgonda BJP District President K Sridhar Reddy by BRS members.
Condemning the assault, BJP State President and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy expressed outrage, pointing to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s unfulfilled promises. During the bye-election in Nagarjunasagar, Rao pledged to complete the Nellikal Lift irrigation project upon the election of the BRS candidate. However, with the project still incomplete and elections looming once again, tensions flared.
In a statement, the Telangana BJP chief criticized the Chief Minister’s unkept promises, highlighting Sridhar Reddy’s peaceful protest at Nellikal during KCR’s public meeting. The statement alleges that BRS members, described as “goondas,” attacked Reddy in broad daylight amid a large gathering.
Following the attack, Sridhar Reddy was promptly transported to RIMS in Nalgonda for medical treatment. Union Minister Kishan Reddy reached out to Reddy over the phone to inquire about the incident, adding fuel to the escalating political tensions in Telangana.
