Hemant Soren Administration Achieved Financial Gains Shortly After Assuming Power, Claims Former Jharkhand CM Babulal Marandi

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has raised concerns about the current government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accusing it of engaging in corruption and financial misconduct shortly after assuming power. Marandi emphasized that instead of prioritizing public welfare, the government seemed more focused on accumulating wealth for personal gain.

In response to inquiries about the frequent involvement of senior IAS officers and political aides in Enforcement Directorate actions, Marandi asserted that the government, since its inception, had been actively involved in financial improprieties. He accused the administration of appointing brokers, middlemen, and corrupt officials to key positions, resulting in the generation of illicit funds.

Marandi pointed out that the situation became evident when corruption allegations surfaced. He further highlighted that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on five occasions but had not yet cooperated with the investigators. Marandi stressed the importance of holding individuals in constitutional positions accountable, stating that failure to do so would erode public trust in the legal system.

Expressing concern about law and order issues in Jharkhand, Marandi noted that the state experienced a significant increase in riots in 2021 compared to other parts of the country. Criticizing the Jharkhand Police, he accused the government of using the police force for extortion rather than its intended purpose of apprehending and punishing criminals.

Marandi also lamented the high rate of migration from the state, attributing it to the lack of job opportunities. He argued that if the government had focused on strengthening infrastructure, maintaining law and order, and promoting economic development, the outmigration could have been mitigated. However, according to Marandi, the government’s lack of emphasis on these critical aspects has led to an increase in migration from Jharkhand.
