Amit Shah Directs Comprehensive Eradication of Terror Infrastructure in J-K Security Review Meeting

On 2nd January, Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a comprehensive review of the security grid and the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. During the two-and-a-half-hour meeting, he emphasized the need to bolster counter-terrorism operations and completely eradicate the terror ecosystem in the region.

The Home Minister scrutinized the area domination plan implemented by security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to mitigate the threat of terrorism. The Ministry of Home Affairs released a statement indicating Shah’s directives, stating that he instructed the reinforcement of counter-terrorism efforts and stressed the imperative of eliminating the entire terror infrastructure.

Shah advised security agencies to deploy forces appropriately in vulnerable areas, reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism. Emphasizing the importance of adhering to due procedures in counter-terror operations, Shah underscored the significance of strengthening the local intelligence network.

Acknowledging the efforts of security agencies and the administration of the Union Territory, the Home Minister commended the notable decline in terror-related incidents, infiltration, and improvements in the law and order situation.

The meeting, attended by key officials such as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director IB, Heads of CAPFs, Chief Secretary, and DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, took place in the aftermath of an encounter on December 21 last year, where four soldiers lost their lives in Rajouri’s Poonch region.

Shah’s emphasis on a comprehensive review and strategic reinforcement of security measures echoes previous high-level meetings on January 13 and April 13 of the previous year. In these meetings, he underscored the decisive battle against terrorism and the commitment to a zero-tolerance policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The Home Minister highlighted the intention to strengthen the 360-degree security mechanism to eliminate the support and information systems of terrorists.
