Swachhta Survey 2023: Karnal’s Rank Set Back by 30

However, the town scored 3,024.24 out of 4,830 in service level progress, 1,586.72 out of 2,170 in citizen voice, and 1,125 out of 2,500 in the certification category.

Swachhta Survey 2023: Karnal’s Rank Set Back by 30

In the recently released Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023, Karnal faced a setback as its ranking plummeted by 30 positions, falling out of the top 100 cities nationally. The annual cleanliness survey, conducted by the Centre, revealed Karnal securing the 115th position out of 446 cities with a population above 1 lakh. Rohtak claimed the top spot in the state with a rank of 109, pushing Karnal to second place. Represented by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the state assembly, Karnal scored 5,735.96 out of 7,500 points in the survey.

According to the findings, Karnal showcased notable achievements, including 92.5% door-to-door garbage collection, 74% segregation of garbage at source, and 45% waste processing. However, the town scored 3,024.24 out of 4,830 in service level progress, 1,586.72 out of 2,170 in citizen voice, and 1,125 out of 2,500 in the certification category.

In the same category, Thanesar in Kurukshetra ranked the lowest at 414, followed by Faridabad (381) and Kaithal (365). For cities with less than a 1 lakh population, Kalka in Panchkula secured the top position in the state with a rank of 1,106 out of 3,690 cities nationwide. Gohana (1,071) in Sonepat and Beri (1,153) in Jhajjar district followed suit.

Conversely, Punhana in Nuh found itself among the bottom three in Haryana, securing a position of 3,857, along with Adampur (3,864) in Hisar and Kundli (3,720) in Sonepat. Ambala Cantt, the sole cantonment board in the state, was ranked at 23 out of 60 nationally, showcasing a commendable performance in maintaining cleanliness.
